Fire burning, Acrylic, Charcoal on Wood
Owls have always spoken to me — symbols of wisdom traced back to Greek mythology, where Athena, goddess of wisdom, is forever accompanied by their watchful gaze. In creating this piece, I played with fire to burn contrast into the wood, letting the elements themselves guide the story.
I prayed for wisdom as I worked — for myself, for those who would see this piece, for those who might one day hold it in their hands. Trees, water, fire… who is wiser than the elements that have witnessed all things since the beginning of time? I used them all here, blending their voices into one. On the back, I inscribed a poem meant to bring wisdom to all who touch it.
Soon after, a publisher reached out to me about a book. Their name? Purple Owl. A coincidence, perhaps… or maybe just the universe nodding in agreement.
